Thank you for visiting my campaign website. My name is Daniel Rumfelt, and Greenville County has been my family’s home for the past sixteen years. My wife and I are raising our three children here, and like so many of you, we want them to grow up in a community that is safe, strong, and full of opportunity. That’s why I’m running for County Council — because I believe our kids deserve a future built on honesty, fairness, and responsible leadership.
I’ve seen firsthand how rapidly our county is growing and how that growth impacts everyday families — especially on our roads. Anyone who has driven Fairview Road in Simpsonville knows congestion is getting worse, not better. That’s why I believe it’s time for real reform in public transportation, focused on helping people get to work, medical appointments, and the services they depend on. I want to bring together some of Greenville’s largest employers — BMW, GE, Sealed Air, and the Donaldson Center
— to help create practical transit solutions and additional stops that connect people to opportunity while easing congestion on our busiest corridors.
Homeowners have also carried the burden of infrastructure costs for too long, and it’s time for a fairer approach. A dedicated road funding model — where those who Eat, Play, and Shop in Greenville help contribute to the roads they use —
move toward a consumption tax. Just makes sense. It keeps taxes low for families while finally giving us consistent, reliable funding to fix the roads we travel every day.
I also want to protect what makes South Greenville special. Our farmland, our open spaces, and our sense of community are worth fighting for. Creating a South Greenville Conservation District
is about preserving those roots so our children and grandchildren can enjoy the same beauty and identity we cherish today.
Whether it’s protecting FILOT revenue for schools and fire districts, improving roads without raising taxes, making the Sheriff’s Office competitive again, or ensuring mental-health needs are addressed inside our detention center.
My campaign is built on the belief that growth should pay for growth
, a conservative government should be transparent, and decisions should be grounded in data. I’m a conservative who won’t tell you what you want to hear; I’ll tell you the truth and work to fix the real problems facing our county by thinking outside of the box. From supporting our fire districts and schools to strengthening public safety and improving roads, I am focused on solutions that serve the people.
As a father, a husband, and a man of faith, I believe leadership starts with honesty and service. When I don’t know the answer, I don’t guess — I research, I ask questions, and I rely on a higher authority for guidance. That’s how I approach life, and it’s how I’ll approach public service. Greenville County has given my family and me so much. Running for County Council is my way of giving back — by fighting for accountability, fairness, and a government that truly works for the people who call this place home.
Thank you again for taking the time to learn more about why I’m stepping forward. I hope you’ll join me in building a Greenville County where families can thrive, where growth is managed responsibly, and where our values guide the way forward — for us, for our children, and for the future we share.
